The Phoenix Coyotes have filed for bankruptcy. Meanwhile the NHL is taking over their operations (anti-trust lawsuit from Canadian/original six fans and teams, anyone?) and further still, Jim Ballsillie is offering 212.5 million dollars for the team, provided he can move them. Gary Bettman's response to all this? He refused to discuss timetables for a withdrawal from Ira--I mean Phoenix, then stuffed his fingers in his ears and shouted "Lalalalalalalalalalala!"
To further prove that the NHL knows what it's doing, its referees waved off a legitimate goal by the Red Wings last night.
Too bad the NHL isn't in the same situation Montreal is. We could stand to have Bettman and the entire gaggle of NHL referees due to become UFA's (unemployed) at the end of the season.
