Bill Daly: "We hate money."

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly is baring his teeth at Jim Balsillie, saying "We don't usually like to pick fights, but we end them."

Huh?

Looks to me like the NHL should be on its knees thanking Balsillie for offering much more money than anyone else in the world is willing to give for the Phoenix Coyotes. Of course, what do I know. Next time I try to sell something on Ebay I'll respond to the highest bidder by telling him he's picked a fight with the wrong guy. I'll tell him he can buy my item, but he has to keep it in my house.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with these idiots? Here's another great quote:
"It doesn't take into consideration all the people and the money that has been spent on and devoted to the Coyotes franchise here in Glendale, both in the creation of a new building that was paid for largely by taxpayers and in the emotional and financial connection Coyotes fans have with their team."

Excuse me, what fans are those, Mr. Daly? I have an emotional and financial connection to my wife. The few people who have gone to Coyotes games have not made an "emotional connection" to the team. If they had, the Coyotes would not be in the position they are.

What's even richer is the way the NHL is treating the current owner of the team. They're telling Jerry Moyes that he is not in control of the team, and that the NHL claims they get to decide who buys it, and at what cost. Moyes gets no say in who buys his own team. So, because Bill Daly and gary bettman don't happen to like Jim Balsillie and his revolutionary idea of not having teams in the south and instead having them up north, an NHL team owner gets screwed out of a sale.

Wow.
Just wow.

Of course, this will be settled in the courts. And Hockey gets another black eye from the publicity as normal people wonder why the NHL insists on having a team in Arizona. Thanks again, gary bettman.

Better quotes:
"Mr. Balsillie is acting, again, in total disregard of any rules, or any structure"
You mean like how the league decides on who to suspend and who not too?

And the cherry on top:
"In any situation we believe, once you've committed to a market, you have to give the market a fair chance to succeed or fail and I don't think this market has had that chance at this point of time"
Fucking douchebag just insulted all of Canada for when they U-Hauled the Jets to hockey desert hell, disregarding 30 years of an imbeded hockey market (in two leagues), it wasn't because the team went bankrupt from lack of fan support but rather from the political fact that our dollar at the time was worth the price of a soda pop.

I'm sure the Leafs/Habs/Rags just looooove flushing their money down the toilets for their stupid profit sharing garbage. Let it move or have it fail (and no, not to another desert crapshoot like Las Vegas) and disperse the talent to places that actually know who Shane Doan is.
