Trade Deadline Looms

So the Trade Deadline is 3 pm (ET) on Wednesday. I don't like making predictions, but I always enjoy this time of year (at least when Montreal's not trading it's #1 goalie), and watching what happens. Bruins and Canadiens both should be buyers, but both of them also have borderline retarded management, so we'll see if they actually spring some deals.

Feel free to use the comments section for rampant speculation, guessing, swearing when Bob Gainey doesn't make a sensible trade, and general trade anxiety/excitement.

As a Bruins fan I have to say this: MARK RECCHI AND STEVE MONTADOR!!! THAT'S IT???WTF!!! The Bruins and in my opinion are definitely trade deadline LOSERS this year. After falling flat on their faces last night against the Flyers (I hate em), this team definitely needed to do a lot more than a 41 yr old forward and a defenseman who is only good for about 5 minutes on penalities a game! I can totally see this team getting bounced first round by the Pens.

And what the hell happened to the Habs? Why did they not make any moves? I thought for sure they were going to try something as 3/4 of their team are UFA at the end of the season.

I completely understand your emotion. However, I like Recchi and wish Montreal could have gotten him.
I'm not so sure things are as bleak as you make them out to be for the B's, but I agree they should have done more. This could be their year, and they could have made themselves invincible with some stronger players.

Now for Montreal: Well, at least I saw it coming. It's not like we Habs fans were like "Gee, duh, I thought we would get a huge player at the deadline this year for SURE!"

In any case, it seems we Habs fans have been extremely naughty these last few years, as we have gotten jack squat for Christmas (trade deadline). Gainey Claus must really hate us.

Woah Recchi back to Montreal would have been way too much of a time warp.

Anyway, you couldn't buy Bouwmeester LUNCH with Dandy, Higgins, and a pick...so ya, fans would be dreaming if they got someone, anyone, big. There really wasn't anything out there either that would have been happy to give/happy to receive. And GOD DAMN the Flyers picked up that idiot from the desert. Just what the East needed...
